Dance Platform Istanbul – Training Platform applications started!.. Main festival program of the Dance Platform is realized at Cemal Reşit Rey concert hall on 15-22 September to host world-famous dancers and groups.

Mankind’s Tragedy was staged at Rumeli Hisari Castle “Prometheus Imprudent” was staged at Rumeli Hisari Castle on 26-27-28 July.

Compañía Nacional de Danza met with lovers in Istanbul… Compañía Nacional de Danza performed “Without Words, Kol-Nidre, Gnawa” at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall on Sunday, July 11 by 20:00.

2nd Istanbul International Ballet Competition This project provided an opportunity for young artists to show themselves in the international arena as well as an incentive for the Turkish artists to join a competitive environment.

The Barbarossa Project Realized in cooperation between Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency and the Directorate General of State Opera and Ballet, the Barbarossa Project is a modern dance-drama project featuring the life of Kaptan-ı Derya (Fleet Admiral of the Ottoman Navy) Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha and the Mediterranean sailors of the 16th Century, and exposing the issue of human-water relationship in modern life with the historical connection.

European Universities Theatre Festival The theatre festival organized in 2008 by Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency Theatre and Performing Arts Directorate goes international in 2010.

An Innovative Name from the New Wave Catalan Theatre: Carles Batlle in Istanbul! Carles Batlle is coming to Istanbul on 13-15 December for the “New Text New Theatre” with the support of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency.

Istanpoli goes on with auditions for the “Creation2010” by Meg Stuart American choreographer Meg Stuart coming to Istanbul for auditioning professional dancers for "Creation2010" to be realized within the scope of "istanpoli" project by garajistanbul.

The Tradition That Opens the Curtain to the Future: The Theater Map of Istanbul This project involves field work on theatre halls and theatre buildings to create an expansive theatre map of Istanbul from the past to the present day, while also compiling these efforts in a book.

Women drew “Istanbul Portraits” by their own stories An Istanbul 2010 ECOC project by garajistanbul, ISTANPOLI was realized the Istanbul leg of portrait series by world-famous Belgian director Michael Laub.

Turkish Universities Theatre Festival Turkish Universities Theatre Festival was organized by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency Theatre and Performing Arts Department on May 15-30, 2009.

12. International Istanbul Puppet Festival Organized under the support of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency Theatre and Performing Arts Directorate, the 12th International Puppet Festival was held on 5 to 20 May 2009.

Seas Istanbul ‘Seas’ is a traveling festival consisting mainly of dance and performance arts, held in cities that are on the Black Sea or the North Sea coasts.

PROJECTS 2008

International Ballet Competition The project aims to help local and foreign artists improve themselves through an annual ballet competition to enrich cultural life of Istanbul.

Contacting The World The Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency joined the “Contacting the World” project upon the invitation of Liverpool, the 2008 European Capital of Culture.

Istanbul Universities Theatre Festival The first event to be organised in this framework was the 2008 Istanbul Universities Theatre Festival held between the dates 21-30 April.
