The Project aims at making an inventory of craftsmen and ateliers currently working on traditional arts and handcrafts in Istanbul in order to catch and maintain attention on such an important cultural richness as small factories of arts.

The project also has a website www.istanbulunustalari.com to determine ateliers of the masters working on traditional arts like book binding and wood carving; to demarcate of their expertise, to point their districts on a map.

While the Masters of Istanbul map is prepared in two languages: Turkish and English for free distribution in various spots of Istanbul throughout 2010, the website is planned to be transferred to an institution for its continuity beyond 2010.

The second leg of the project is Masters of Istanbul Documentaries featuring 10 masters in 10 separate volumes which are realized under the counseling of Dr. Ali Satan and directed by Kıvanç Demirtaş. Masters of Istanbul Documentaries are planned to be screened at Atlas Movie Theatre in December 2010.
