“1001 Istanbuls in My Binoculars” is film workshop project to be directed by Isil Özgentürk. Students of the “Isil Özgentürk Film Workshop” which has been operative for the past seven years at Kadıköy Municipality, will write on scenarios scripts that describe their own Istanbul. Some of these scenarios will be filmed by the students and some by a professional team including two directors coming from Germany and Hungary. Alican Durbaş, Gabor Ferenczi, Julia Langhnof, Bilge Türkben, Bilge Sümer, Çiğdem Karakaş, Fatih Akbulut, Fatih Orbay, Sezgin Türk, Süreyya Sezgin, Vuslat Özdemirci, Handan İpekçi, Nazan Sungur, Sezen Kozluoğlu, Ayten Polat, Kamil Masaracı, Feyza Aktan, Candan Bayraktaroğlu, Betül Bozkurt , İhsan Sönmez, Fusun Bankoğlu and Binnur Eylül will be accompanying Isil Özgentürk at this project.
“1001 Istanbuls in My Binoculars” Project is supported by Kadıköy Municipality, Yeditepe University, and Maya Promotion Inc. The gala of the movie that will come out of the workshop, will be held on Day Friday June 18, 2010 at Yeditepe University. After the film premiere it will be released for screening at coffeehouses in 39 districts of Istanbul, municipal cultural centers, cultural centers of consulates and other venues abroad in places.
Özgentürk pays special attention to the screening at coffeehouses for it will mean widespread diffusion of cinema to the masses; and would work as workshops to remark that audience too can make their own films. After the screening some lessons will be given to the audience at the coffeehouses to encourage them to film the Istanbul in “their” binoculars. The film will apply to many esteemed national and International film festivals.
