"Mahpeyher: Kösem Sultan" is a cinema movie project which will feature the life of Kösem Sultan, one of the most important woman characters in the Ottoman History.

This is a life story of a woman in a helix of love, power struggles and intrigues. Mahpeyker, though not coming from Turkish origin neither from a Muslim family, joined in the Ottoman Palace by twists of fate; and finally managed to get an important position even to impact on the destiny of the Empire. With this respect Mahpeyker the movie will bring a new language and approach to the Ottoman history which has been so far depicted with references to men and wars.

The project will be carried out by Avni Özgürel and Ayfer Özgürel on behalf of TFT Television Film Promotion. The film is planned for screening on 1 May 2010 at CRR.
