Dance Platform Istanbul is an international training, production and festival event that goes with the slogan “Istanbul is dancing!” and it is carried out by the Istanbul 2010 ECOC Agency Theatre and Performing Arts Directorate.

Spread over a long period between April and December 2010 with a rich international program, the backbone of the project is the main festival to take place between 15 and 22 September 2010. Already applied in certain cultural cities of Europe, this project aims at gathering all members of modern and classical dance community in Turkey as well as Turkish and foreign dancers for researching the present situation and future of the art of dance.

Conditions were announced nearly one month ago for those who wish to join local auditions with new choreographies for the Dance Platform.

• Local auditions are open for all independent artist, young choreographers and university students as well as professional dancers who work individually or under a group.
• Applications can be submitted for classical/modern ballet and modern/contemporary dance categories.
• Pieces to join in local auditions should not have been staged before and must not last longer than 15 minutes.
• Applications are to be conducted in two phases. Candidates must:
1. Submit their names, CVs and contact information to dansplatform@istanbul2010.org until 19 March 2010 in the first phase;
2. Subsequently forward their official application files to Istanbul 2010 Theatre and Performing Arts Directorate by post or directly in person not later than 16 July 2010.

Applications will be evaluated an advisory committee comprised of experts in performing arts and various disciplines of dancing. Selected pieces will be staged within the main festival program (15-22 September)
