Maritime Projects Working Group
“Borders of a nation whose land is on the edge of the sea are drawn by the power and capability of its people.”
Maritime Projects Working Group was established upon the Resolution no. 2008-28 dated 21 July 2008 by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency Executive Committee and held its first meeting on 29 August 2008.
Maritime projects to be accomplished within the scope of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency are targeted at:
• Worldwide publicity of nautical aspect of Istanbul that is united by water-divided by water
• Contributing to national and international organizations and
• Inheriting Istanbul’s maritime culture and devotion to the next generations

CONSERVATION AND IMPLEMENTATION WORKING GROUP (KUDEB)
The first stage of protecting Istanbul’s traditional architecture will involve the basic repair of 20 examples of civil architecture in cooperation with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality the Protection Implementation and Supervision Bureau (KUDEB).
These 20 buildings were determined by a working group -comprised of KUDEB, National Timber Association and specialists from our Agency- in accordance with the resolution of the Executive Board dated 24 October 2008 concerning the execution of this project. This working group also carries out all cost accounting and contract specifications.

PROMOTION WORKING GROUP
This working group was established within the context of the protocol signed upon the Executive Board resolution number 2008/47 dated 10 November 2008 in order to collaborate with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on domestic and international promotional projects to be carried out until the end of 2010 for the following purposes:
· Contributing to Istanbul becoming a prominent destination of cultural tourism with its cultural activities and diversity as well as historical background
· Enhancing and enriching perceptions to this end, both inland and abroad
· Increasing the number of visitors to Istanbul and ensuring that the city takes better economic advantage of this process.
The working group held its first meeting on 20 November 2008.

TOPKAPI PALACE MUSEUM WORKING GROUP
The Director of Istanbul Surveying and Monuments formed this working group, to include the Director of the Topkapi Museum and relevant section managers, as well as academicians and specialists for the work and studies required to be planned and conducted in the Topkapi Palace museum. These works and studies include the museum's strategic planning, a sustainability-oriented management plan, visitors planning, communication and training, landscape design, restoration-maintenance-repair work, display-arrangement, database work, rehabilitation of storage areas and infrastructure systems (lighting, air conditioning, security, fire alarm, etc.).
When necessary, particularly in relation to the management of the Sur-I Sultani area included in the World Heritage List, further relevant advisors will be included in the process.
